De uitslag van Best of Spain Wine Challenge Netherlands 2020 is bekend. Acht Nederlandse wijnprofessionals namen deel aan het debuut van dit project onder leiding van de Spaanse Vereniging van Wijnproevers in Nederland. Gedurende twee dagen proefden de juryleden 80 wijnen. Er zijn zes wijnen die Grand Gold hebben gehaald, deze wijnen scoorden 92 punten of meer. Bij deze Grand Gold wijnen komen we een bekende tegen, dat is namelijk de Cruz del Castillo Reserva 2013, het nieuwe Rioja merk van Oud Reuchlin & Boelen.

Six Grand Gold Medals (scores higher than 92 points), those achieved by the red labels Capote 2018 (DO Ribera del Duero), Vega Real Roble 2019 (DO Ribera del Duero), Corona de Aragón Garnacha Viñas Viejas 2019 (DO Cariñena), Cruz del Castillo Tinto Reserva 2013 (DO Ca Rioja) y Nube de Leza García Crianza 2016 (DO Ca Rioja) beside Pastora Manzanilla Pasada en Rama (DO Jerez – Manzanilla – Sanlúcar de Barrameda) lead a podium that also includes thirty one Gold Medals (scores higher than 88 points) and twenty three Silver Medals (scores higher than 84 points), the strongest proof of the high level of qualifications obtained by the wines registered.
Novotel Amsterdam City Hotel was the venue chosen for the development of the technical sessions of this event, for which Spanish Wine Tasters Association managed to unite eight Dutch market opinion formers. Big supermarket chains and importers wine buyers such as Alexandra Pouderoyen (HEMA Wine Department), Anneke Staals (MITRA Wine Department), Petra Janssen MV (Importer Vinites), Joep Speet MV (Importer Delta Wines) and Ibert Van der Wal MV (Importer Wijnimport J. Bart), top-level sommeliers such as Noel van Wittenbergh (Head Sommelier Okura Hotel Amsterdam) and Job Seuren (Vice President Dutch Sommelier Association. Sommelier Restaurant Zoldering) and the journalist Charlotte van Zummeren (winebusiness.nl | Winelife), endorsed with their presence the rigor of these awards and their support for a promotional initiative such as Best of Spain Wine Challenge.
A showcase, Best of Spain Wine Challenge, which completed its intense tasting program with two seminars programmed for showing to a large group of Dutch professionals the potential that our most eastern wine latitudes have. The Denomination of Origin Valencia with a collection of autochthonous ambassadors and the Denomination of Origin Jumilla with a no less interesting tour of Monastrell and its range of expressions were the protagonists of these masterclasses for which there were two luxury speakers: the sommelier and communicator Edwin Raben and the Master of Wine Cees van Casteren.
