Het Riojahuis La Rioja Alta heeft in een bericht op de eigen website verklaard dat zij dit jaar meer dan € 130.000 zal geven aan samenwerkingsprojecten in de Derde Wereld onder het Viña Ardanza Solidario-programma. Dit filantropische initiatief om landbouwprojecten in ontwikkelingslanden mee te financieren werd in 2007 door Rioja Alta gelanceerd. Na 13 jaar is er nu
€ 1.100.000 aan steun verstrekt.
De toewijzingscommissie beslist over de begunstigden en houdt de follow-up in de gaten. Na alle voorstellen van ngo’s en verenigingen in heel Spanje te hebben bestudeerd, besloot het uiteindelijk tot de initiatieven van Zerca y Lejos in Kameroen, Oxfam Intermón in Burkina Faso, Manos Unidas in Haïti en África Directo in de Democratische Republiek Congo.

Zerca y Lejos is zeer tevreden “the opportunity of being able to continue supporting the autonomy of and food for the Baka pygmy populations in southern Cameroon”. África Directo bevestigt dat Viña Ardanza Solidario “is a clear example of how private companies can make a commitment to achieving a juster world.” Oxfam Intermón “it helps the most disadvantaged people on the planet, prioritising sustainability in the projects being supported”, en Manos Unidas “gratitude for supporting a program that will benefit 550 people and will improve the lives of many Haitian families who are truly in need.”
Maite de Aranzabal, Director of La Rioja Alta, S.A. is verantwoordelijk voor het Solidario programma. Ze verklaart dat het Solidario programma “will also be open all year to the personal contributions of shareholders, directors, employees or other companies, whether with links to the company or otherwise.”She underscored that, “although we continue to launch and collaborate with very interesting initiatives in very needy places, there is unfortunately still much work to be done and many people to help and train to try to reduce the famine that still plagues the Third World.”
